Muslim Social Services of Kitchener-Waterloo is actively encouraging members of both the Muslim and non-Muslim communities in Waterloo Region to respond to the catastrophic situation in Haiti by supporting the relief efforts of the Mennonite Central Committee. Muslim Social Services of Kitchener-Waterloo has a strong partnership with the Mennonite Central Committee and regularly provides volunteers to assist with relief kit-packing sessions. Recognizing that the Mennonite Central Committee has a solid infrastructure and volunteers on the ground in Haiti to assist earthquake survivors in a timely manner, MSS asks the public to support MCC’s efforts to supply 20,000 relief kits and 10,000 cotton sheets to Haiti . Items needed for relief kits include: large bars of bath soap, plastic bottles of shampoo, toothpaste, adult-size toothbrushes, new bath towels, wide-tooth combs, fingernail clippers, and packages of adhesive bandages and sanitary pads. MSS invites those who are unable to drop off supplies to MCC locations to contact MSS at , and MSS volunteers will ensure that the supplies are delivered. Cash donations for Haitian relief can made online at www.mcc.org or by phone, toll free, . They may be also be sent to MCC Ontario, 50 Kent Ave. , Kitchener. |
